Appearance: Sango has long, black hair, that usually she leaves down, but she puts it up into a ponytail when demon slaying. She prefers to wear nice clothes. Normally she wears knee-length skirts and fairly modest tops with some sort of sleeve. For demon slaying she wears a black bodysuit with pink trim.

Personality: Sango is a friendly person who usually does not have trouble getting along with people. But even for that, she has few people she'd call friends, but she is very loyal to those friends. She is very compassionate, though, and likes to help people whenever she can. She tends to give people the benefit of the doubt, trusting them.

Sango was raised to be modest, and because of this she doesn't like to be the center of attention, and gets easily embarrassed in such situations. She is shy about romantic relationships, and doesn't know how to deal with being flirted with, whether to become embarrassed or annoyed; if it's Miroku flirting with her, it's likely to be both reactions. It annoys her that Miroku is always flirting with other girls, and she gets rather angry when he's a pervert about it.

Sango is a very driven person. She has dedicated her life to destroying Naraku, the demon who slaughtered her entire town.

Abilities/Strengths: Sango has been trained to hunt demons. She is good at strategizing, whether a demon should be trapped or fought, and also at coordinating efforts in battle. She can use various poison smokes, and knows how to use several different types of weapons, including swords, knives, and her hiraikotsu, to fit the range of the combat. Loyalty to her friends and compassion toward people in general are her strengths.

Weapons: For long range combat, Sango uses a hiraikotsu, which is like a giant boomerang. For short range, Sango has both a short sword and a dagger.

Weaknesses: Sango is a trusting person, and therefore fairly easily manipulated. She is likely to expect strangers to have good intentions. Because of how much she values the people she's close to, hurting them is the easiest way to hurt her. When angry she ignores the situation and her own safety to attack full out, which leaves her open to other attacks.

History: Sango was born in a small, mountain town in northern Honshu, several hours by train from Tokyo. It was a very isolated town, hardly more than a village. Her father was mayor of the town, which was still a hereditary post.

The town, as a town full of demon slayers, was only partially modernized, with only one train out, and a town bus system totally three vehicles. There was only one television and telephone in the town, both in the mayor's office, used to keep enough contact with the outer world to secure demon slaying jobs. Kitchens and bathrooms were the only parts of the houses that were fully modernized.

But in a village where everyone spends their time training and fighting demons, such things were hardly missed. Sango and her brother Kohaku had a lot of fun times growing up together in the close-knit town.

One day their father decided it was time they both were brought on a job. Unfortunately, this ended in tragedy, because the man who hired them was actually a demon named Naruku in disguise. All the demon slayers were killed except Sango, who managed to crawl away injured amid the chaos. She managed to make it back to her town, hoping to get help for some sort of, albeit futile, rescue mission, but arrived only to find that the entire town was dead, wiped out by demons under Naraku's command.

She hid out in town, nearly in shock, for several days before a group of travelers, Miroku, Kagome, and Inuyasha, appeared. It turned out they were also after revenge against Naraku, so, having no where else to go, Sango decided to join them. During the intervening couple of years Sango has become good friends with the group after Naraku, has a crush she won't even admit to herself on Miroku, and is starting to get used to life in a fully modern world.
